Student Media Team Expectations

These are the expectations for those who serve on the student media team.

Expectations

Team Leader: Zach Hartman

Goal

To create a Christ-Centered worship experience that engages the congregation and inspires the crowd with relevant language, good music, creativity, and excitement.

Behavior & Attitude

We expect each student volunteer to reflect the behavior and attitude that glorifies Christ. The expectation is that the student has felt the call to serve and is doing so with the intentions to reach our Goal stated above. We also have the expectation that you are walking in a relationship with Christ and seeking out growth in your spiritual life. A team member may be asked to step away in the event that these expectations are not met.

Commitment

Everyone who joins the team is asked for a year long commitment with the area that you are assigned. The year begins once you submit your agreement below. At the end of the year you will have a meeting with the team lead to discuss the next year.

Scheduling

Schedules are sent out in 1-2 month blocks in Planning Center Online (PCO from this point on). Accept or Decline the scheduled date by 2 weeks prior to scheduled date. If an emergency situation arises, please let the team lead know as quickly as possible. Please schedule blackout dates in PCO a week before the new month begins, this allows for schedules to be made fairly and know when you will be unavailable.

Practice

PCO will have a practice time for the service you are scheduled. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to practice time. We understand transportation may be difficult for some student volunteers, so if you will be late, please contact the team leader as quickly as possible.

Teachable

Be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them. We expect you to try your best to be mistake free, however we know you are human and mistakes happen. Be willing to own your mistake and learn how to correct it. You will be trained and if you don't know how to do something, don't hesitate to ask a question. There are no stupid questions.

Evaluation

At the end of each semester, December and May, you will receive an honest evaluation to let you know where you excelled and where there could be improvements. This will allow you to grow and improve in the area you are serving. We will also give you an opportunity to evaluate the team leader so they may grow as well.

Our Overall Team Goal is to:

-Stay CONNECTED to God through Study, Prayer, and Serving. We can’t expect to LEAD people to worship if we’re not LIVING a life of worship.

-COMMUNICATE with one another and your leaders to avoid frustration and miscommunication.

Honor everyone in your speech within and outside the group that is loving, problem solving, and useful for building up the body.

-ALWAYS be willing to constantly learn each part of the team’s roles and look for ways to improve the systems we use.

-Stay COMMITTED to the vision of the church. This means you will have to put personal preference aside to accomplish our vision.

-CONTINUE to always remember that we serve 3 groups of people:

1. Jesus Christ (Remember that no matter how loud or how big or how “great” the “show” is, the purpose is to worship the Lord and point people towards the teaching of the Word)

2. Worship Team (Keep in mind the awesome and stressful role the band has in our Encounter Worship Service.) Be attentive to their needs. Be willing to help figure out problems that can take the stress off of them as musicians. And be willing to learn each band member. This is includes their mannerisms and comfort needs (vocalists needing water? Drummer getting to warm in cage? Are they performing a new song?)

3. Those who attend the Encounter worship service
