Hurricane Helene Recovery – A Home Built Through Grace

Hilldale helps rebuild a home lost to Hurricane Helene—see how your giving made hope possible!

God is Moving: A New Home Rises in Jonesborough, TN

Not long ago, Hurricane Helene brought devastating floods across Tennessee, North Carolina, and beyond. Many of our neighbors faced heartbreaking losses—homes washed away, roads impassable, power shut off. But God is faithful, and you have responded. Your prayers and generous gifts have brought real hope and a brand-new home to a family in need.

Your Generosity at Work

Thanks to your faithful giving, Hilldale partnered with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP) to build a new home for The Faulkner family of Jonesborough, TN. Their home had been completely swept away by the flood—but it will soon stand again, stronger and drier.

About Appalachia Service Project

“Repairing Homes, Transforming Lives.”

Since 1969, ASP has brought thousands of volunteers into rural Appalachia to repair and rebuild homes. Their mission is simple and powerful: to make homes warmer, safer, and drier while offering life-changing service experiences. Each year, ASP serves over 350 families with the help of more than 15,000 volunteers.

Project Timeline & Highlights

January 13 – Project Launch

ASP and the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board approved the Faulkner family’s application. With the home already gone, site prep began immediately. Foundation work was set to start as soon as freezing temperatures left the region.

February 28 – Skilled Amish Volunteers Arrive

Two groups of experienced tradesmen from Ohio and Kentucky joined forces with ASP—accelerating the foundation and framing stages.

March 28 – Major Build Completed

In just three days, the Amish crew handled framing, windows, doors, roofing, and porches. Mennonite volunteers followed with insulation and sheetrock. Painting began early next week.

May 30 – Nearing Completion

  • ASP has finished 14 homes (11 new builds, 3 repairs) since the storm.
  • Currently, 43 new homes are in progress in TN (33) and NC (10), and another 24 households are in the pipeline.
  • For the Faulkner home: Electrical passed final inspection last week. We're now just waiting for the power hookup before HVAC trim-out begins—and the home will be fully move-in ready!

Praise God for This Progress!

  • What was once washed away is being rebuilt—together.
  • Praise the Lord for His provision.
  • Celebrate the power of our church family! You showed up with your hearts and your hands.
